Warfare of The Heart

"Well I am to be your queen," Nolee smiled as she kindly patted Evan's hand, "I do not care what they have to say. As long as Sheamus and I are alright with you talking to others, you should talk to others."

"Right..." Evan said, nodding. "But some of the knights feel it necessary to punish those like me who don't listen to them..." He added quietly, worried one of the knights might hear him.

Nolee frowned, "Punish you? How? You are a knight in your own right, are you not? They have no rights to do such a thing."

"Not really, we're more knights in training." Evan said. "Some of them think they 'own' us and hurt the one they train..."

"Who do you train under Evan?" Nolee asked, feeling worried for her new friend. "Such treatment is barbaric."

"Sir McIntyre..." Evan said quietly, glancing nervously over at the tent he shared with his knight. "I...I'd heard from others that Cena wasn't very kind...Is that what happened the other night?"

Nolee was silent before she looked around and nodded, "I do believe so. I can only base my thoughts on the rumors I heard passing around camp. I did not know the men involved very well." She paused and looked at his tent, "Sir McIntyre, eh? Does he mistreat you?"

Evan nodded, frowning and shaking his head at what Nolee said before responding to the question. "Not as much as others would I guess..." He said quietly. "Usually only if he's already angry at something."

"Well that's still no reason to hurt you," Nolee replied kindly. "Perhaps when we get back to the castle you can give me a real tour. I haven't had one yet."

Evan shrugged his shoulders, his eyes on the ground. He looked relieved when Nolee changed the subject, running a hand through his hair as he looked back up at her, hesitating before nodding. "I guess I could do that... I thought you would have already had one though."

"I have but it made you forget what was making you sad," Nolee smiled before turning her attention to the soup.

"Oh..." Evan said with a small smile."I guess it did..." He looked around, going quiet when he saw Sheamus come out of his tent.

Nolee smiled as she turned her head and stood, "My love! You have awakened. I was making supper for my children."

"Yes that does happen." Sheamus said, chuckling. "Your children? How are they your children?" He asked.

"I am the queen of your land. If you look at your people as they are your children," Nolee smiled as she stirred the stew, "then they are my children as well."

"I guess so," Sheamus said, nodding slowly before sitting down. "I'm not sure if that is how I look at them though."

"How would you refer to them then?" Nolee asked, looking towards Sheamus.

"Well that would be many more children than I could handle," Sheamus said, chuckling. "I guess as my people?"

"I can see where you would say that," Nolee replied, "perhaps different people have different ways to refering to their kingdoms."

Sheamus shrugged his shoulders. "I guess so... Why, what do others say?" He asked.

"My father refered to his people as his children," nodded Nolee, "I have heard other things as well though."

"Yeh have?" Sheamus asked, running a hand through his hair, yawning. "Like what exactly?"

"I have heard that the savage Britains use the term countrymen," Nolee shrugged.

"We're not savage," Wade said as he walked to the fire, relaxing against a log, "glad to see you're to narrow minded to see the truth."

Sheamus shook his head. "They aren't all that bad." He said. "There are savages in places all over though from what I've seen."

"There are?" Nolee asked, looking at him and then looking at Evan, remembering what the young man had said before. "Maybe you need to talk to your men about the way they treat their pages and squires. I have heard that some of them are mistreated."
