Warfare of The Heart

Sheamus nodded, staying quiet for a minute before speaking again, playing with her hair. "...which do you prefer?"

"Out of this and being a simple stay at home wife?" Nolee chuckled as she looked at him, "I long for adventure. If I have a family along the way, that is fine. I was not born solely to give a man his family."

"Alright," Sheamus laughed. "I was just checking. I don't think I could stand staying home too long now after travelling so much."

"Where on this Earth have you been?" Nolee asked, always one to hear about distant lands.

"Mostly places around Ireland..." Sheamus said. "Been to Enlgand a few times."

"That's where your friend Wade is from, correct?" Nolee asked, tracing the lines of his muscles with her finger.

Sheamus nodded, smiling softly at her. "Yeah he is. Somewhere around there... I forget exactly where."

Nolee smiled and nodded, "You must take me there sometime.."

"One day maybe." Sheamus nodded. "We shall see."

Nolee smiled and closed her eyes, clinging close to Sheamus.

Sheamus smiled and kissed her head, gently rubbing her back with one hand. "Is breá liom tú." He said quietly.

"I love you too," Nolee sleepily whispered as she laid content to sleep.

Sheamus hugged her close, lying awake for a while before eventually falling asleep too. He ended up sleeping poorly though, often waking or turning in his sleep, the events with Mason still bothering him.

The next morning, Nolee was up with the sun. She worked tirelessly to make breakfast for the camp, deciding they all needed a good cooked meal and not the slop they had been eating for the last few days.

"You're back?" Evan said when he came out of a tent, looking surprised. "The king's back too, right?" He asked, looking worried.

"Yes, the king is back," Nolee smiled as she looked at him over her shoulder, "I decided to let him sleep so that I may fix the lot of you breakfast. You need a good cooked meal and not the gruel we have been eating since we first started out on this march."

Evan smiled and nodded, sitting down nearby. "That would be nice." He said before yawning and stretching.

"What did you men do while your king and I were in talks with the king of Wales?" Nolee asked as she looked over her shoulder at Evan.

"Rested mostly I think," Evan answered, looking around as he did so. "Some of us did some training though."

Nolee smiled as she stirred the food, "You men take pride in what you do. It is most admirable."

Evan smiled and nodded. "Of course we do. We grew up being taught that fighting like this was a great honour after all..." He said.

"An honour?" Nolee replied, raising an eyebrow.

"Even those who weren't actually born under the king are taught that it's an honur to fight, to defend the country...or our families..." Evan said quietly, looking almost nervous as he bowed his head.

"Why are you nervous?" Nolee asked kindly as she fixed him a bowl of stew. "There is nothing to be nervous about with me."

"Well some of the knights don't let people like me talk to others if they're not around." Evan said quietly. "Some of them aren't exactly the nicest of people..."
