Warfare of The Heart

"I do?" Sheamus asked, frowning. "I know a couple of them aren't the nicest, but I've never seen anything..."

Nolee looked at Evan, "You should tell him young man." Looking back at Sheamus she replied, "Of course you've seen something, didn't you see Cena after he had passed? I have only been with your men for a few days and I know that it was because of how he treated pages that he is dead."

"Well of course I saw that." Sheamus replied. "I knew he at least was doing wrong..."

"And young Evan here complains of his lord, Drew was it?" Nolee asked as she turned her head to look at Evan.

Evan gave a small nod. "Yeah...Drew." He said quietly.

"So he's not just annoyin' then...?" Sheamus frowned.

Nolee nodded, "you should keep a better eye on your men Stephen."

"I think so..." Sheamus nodded, frowning. He shook his head, muttering in Irish to himself as he got to his feet, pacing as he thought about the situation.

Nolee watched him pace, a soft smile on her face, "Are you thinking about what to do? If so, it can wait until we are home."

"Are you sure about that?" Sheamus said, stopping to look at Nolee. "What if something else happens like it did with Cena? I dont want to lose any more men..."

"Well then talk to your men," replied Nolee, "from what I gather Cena was a mean man who had it coming..."

Sheamus frowned and nodded, moving to sit back down. "Well I did say we only really kept him around because he was good with a sword...only I'd prefer if he hadn't used it on another of our men." He added, sighing.

Nolee nodded, "I have seen many men who are good for nothing more than their skill with weapons...Lucas is one of them..."

Sheamus raised an eyebrow, curious. "Oh really? I thought he'd have been useful in some other way at least..."

"Like what?" asked Nolee softly.

"Well he seems like a strong fella," Sheamus said, shrugging his shoulders. "I thought maybe he'd at least have been helpful with building or somethin'."

"Perhaps," Nolee nodded, "I should have thought about that."

"So he's never done anything like that before?" Sheamus asked curiously, hoping to change the topic from the other men to lighten the mood.

Nolee shook her head, "Nay. Maybe when he was younger."

"I see..." Sheamus said, nodding slowly. "So what exactly did you do when yeh were younger?"

"When I was younger?" Nolee asked softly, "I was a chieftan's daughter. I didn't have anything else to do. I was to be born and bred proper and in love with life. I decided I wanted to be a warrior so I had to give up my life as a royal. Father said I couldn't have both."

"Oh...well no, most of them would rather yeh only did one; my father was the same with things." Sheamus said. "Unless of course yeh are the king, or queen; then you can do anything really."

"My father only had Carter and I," she replied softly, "Carter wanted to be a warrior, as did I. When I gave up being a noble to be a warrior, I was considered dead to him. I only had Carter."

"I'm sorry..." Sheamus said softly. "I never understood why people do things like that when they have so little family in the first place." He sighed.

"My father swears he has other heirs," replied Nolee with a soft look, "I am uncertain if it is true or not."

"You've never tried to find out at all?" Sheamus asked curiously, the others around them temporarily forgotten as he spoke to her.
