A Supernatural Hunt

"Time to move then."
"Oh," Jacen frowned. "My brother couldn't fix it?"

Alex nodded as they started again, moving back to Artemis.
"I don't think they could heal him all the way..."

"All good?" Artemis asked him.
"Why not?" Jacen asked, never having quite understood how his brother's powers worked.

"I think so." Alex answered with a smile.
"Maybe it's because he's a demon."

Artemis nodded, shyly taking his hand.
"Oh...I guess that might explain it." Jacen replied. "We were always told angels don't get along with them..."

Alex smiled softly and squeezed his hand softly.
Leo nodded, "Yeah."

Artemis stayed close to Alex as they walked.
"Sorry we aren't much help..." Jacen sighed, lowering his head.

Alex shyly took Artemis's hand as they continued.
"No don't be, its okay thanks to you he's still alive right now..."

Jasper let out a sigh of relief when they reached the house.
"You mean my brother and the Fae..." Jacen said with a sigh.

Alex relaxed and squeezed Artemis's hand, "Home."
"Still without everybody I would of lost him."

Artemis smiled and nodded. "You're home now."
"Except he wouldn't have been hurt if he hasn't come to get us." Jacen pointed out.

Alex smiled and gently pulled on his hand as he started inside.
"They would of probably hurt you guys if we didn't."

Artemis happily followed, staying close.
Jacen sighed and nodded. "I'm not sure how much longer I could have kept shielding us..."

Alex smiled as he sat down on the couch, he was safe again and he even still held Artemis's hand
"They were trying to get to Lex weren't they?" Leo asked softly.

"You alright?" Artremis asked as he stood there, looking down at their hands.
Jacen nodded again. "Yeah, they were."

"Yeah... Just tired..." Alex said softly, but his hand still gripped Artemis's.
"Poor Lex... Someone is always after him..."

Artemis nodded before slowly pulling his hand away from Alex's to sit down beside him.
"Sounds tiring." Jacen said.
"Hey," Jasper said to Frankie, poking the other vampire's arm to get his attention. "You alright?"

Alex pouted slightly when Artemis pulled his hand away.
"Sometimes... But Alex is family... And we're all he has."
Frankie looked at Jasper and nodded, "Yeah... I haven't fed in a while..."

"It's okay." Artemis said softly, wrapping an arm around Alex instead. "I'm still here."
"I understand that. It'd be even harder on him."
Jasper frowned. "Probably a bit too late to go out for that." He said. "The woods don't give as much shade as you'd think..."

Alex curled close and relaxed again him, breathing in the scent of Artemis.
"Yeah..." Leo said softly, "He tries to act like it isn't too hard, but sometimes you can just see how hard it is..."
Frankie nodded, "Okay."
Dante stood off by himself.

Artemis leaned his head on Alex's, using his powers to calm the kitsune.
"Isn't it worse to hide those things?" Jacen asked.
"Will you be okay until it's dark again?"

Alex felt himself calm and he let his eyes close, giving a soft sleepy noise.
"Yeah, but Lex thinks he has to be strong." Leo said softly.
"Yes of course, I'll be fine."

"Rest." Artemis smiled, kissing his head.
"We can't be strong all the time..." Jacen said quietly, looking away.
Jasper nodded. "We can go later then."

Alex murmured happily before falling asleep.
"I know..." Leo said softly, "Buts it's all Lex knows..."
Frankie nodded, "I'm Frankie."

Artemis hugged him close, gently playing with his hair.
Jacen nodded, absent mindedly staring off at nothing.
"Oh!" Jasper said, forgetting they hadn't even been introduced. "Right. Um, I'm Jasper."
