First Night On The Job

"Hey." Artemis said softly.

Casey nodded. "I'll be back to let you know how Mikey's doing soon." he said before going to the room the other doctors took Mikey to.

"Hey." Alex said softly.
Zane nodded sadly.

Artemis gave a small smile and brushed his fingers through Alex's hair. "Are you okay?" he asked.

"I... I think so...." Alex answered softly, but one of his hands went to his stomach.

Artemis frowned and hugged him closer. "I'm sorry." he whispered, kissing Alex's head.

Alex buried his face in Artemis's shoulder, "I-I'm so sorry Arty...."

"It's okay," Artemis said quietly. "it's not your fault."

Alex kepted his face in Artemis's shoulder.

"Just relax." Artemis said softly, gently rubbing Alex's back, his other arm around Alex's waist.

About an hour later, Casey came back out to talk to Zane.

Alex slowly relaxed at the softly and soothing touch.
Zane looked worriedly.

Artemis smiled and leaned closer, kissing Alex.

"Mikey should be fine," Casey said. "But he'll have to stay here a few days..."

Alex kissed back, closeing his eyes.
Zane nodded before asking, "Can i see him?"

Artemis kept kissing Alex, wrapping his arms tighter around him.

Casey nodded. "He's still out of it though." he said.

Alex soon had to pull back, 'i love you..." He said panting.
Zane nodded and stood up.

"I love you too." Artemis said, leaning his head against Alex's.

Casey turned and led him to Mikey's room.

Alex curled in close.
Zane followed nervously.

"Want to go back downstairs...or would you rather stay here?" Artemis asked.

Mikey was lying still in his hospital bed, somwhere between unconcious and asleep. He was paler than normal after the blood he'd lost.

"Here." Alex answered, liking his and Arty's safe haven.
Dante smiled and released his father's kitten and another one.
Zane sat next to him.

"Okay." Artemis said, burying his face in Alex's hair, not really wanting to get up anyway.
"What are you doing?" Jasper asked as he watched.

Mikey shifted in his sleep, going to roll over until he realised he couldn't, an IV in his uninjured arm stopping him. He made an irritated sound as he laid on his back again.

Alex relaxed.
Dante chuckled, "Dad and papa are going to get two little visitors." He said as the kitten's when in the room.
Zane carefully took his hand.

Artemis closed his eyes as he held Alex close.
Jasper chuckled. "Can they get onto the bed though?" he asked.

Mikey tensed when he felt Zane take his hand, not knowing who it was.

Dante nodded, "Yeah i make sure." He said as one of the kitten's started to climb.
'its ok." Zane said softly.

Artemis lifted his head when he felt something on his leg, smiling when he saw his kitten. "Loki..." he mumbled, having been half asleep.
Jasper smiled and leaned against the wall outside the room, watching Dante.

Mikey relaxed a little when he heard Zane's voice, opening his eyes a little. "Zane...?" he said in a faint voice, sounding almost scared.

Alex opened his eyes when he felt a kitten climb on his side and meow. "Hello little one."
Dante smiled as he watched.
"Mikey." Zane said softly.

Artemis looked confused when he saw the second kitten before carefully sitting up. He picked up his fluffy kitten and showed him to Alex. "This is Loki." he said, petting the kitten. "Jacen got him for me."

Mikey slowly looked up at Zane, taking a minute to work out where he was, frowning when he did.
