Adam listened to them talk but continued to focus on Jay.

Adam looked as the door opened again and two more men walked in.
Brett slowly made his way into the throne room, he was walking with the prince. He had been talking to his close friend when Carter had been summoned my his father.

Carter smiled as he entered the room. In many ways, Carter was more mature than his father and many thought of him to be the true heir. His eyes rested on Adam and Jay before he looked at Harris, "More slaves?"

"The shorter of the two," Harris gestured to Jay, "Is yours."

Jay shyly and nervously at the man that was to own him.
Adam studied him trying to gage if he would hurt Jay.
Brett went to his spot quietly.

Carter hesitated at first but then slowly walked toward Jay, "Hello. My name is Carter. What is your name?"

Nolee sat beside her father, staring out the window to the area where the rest of the gladiators were training.

"Its J-Jay..." Jay answered softly, he looked down at the floor.
Brett watched Nolee.

"That's a pretty name," Carter smiled kindly, "Would you like me to show you to a room?"

Nolee turned and caught Brett staring at her, "Is something the matter?"

Nolee smield and went back to looking outside.

Adam stared at where Jay had left with the man, he hated his brother being away from him. He looked at Harris.

Harris smiled down at him, "Nolee, take him to the arena. Show him to the gladiator barracks."

Jay tilted his head curiously, "Should you father not atone for himself?"
Adam looked at the girl that walked over to him.

Nolee curtsied, "I'm Nole, his daughter, I'm to accompany you to the barracks."

Adam nodded and followed Nolee out of the room.

"Can they? Tell me, do you know what probably happened to any friends you had in your village?" Carter asked.

Nolee smiled, "I know not of your village but you will enjoy being a gladiator..."

"Most of the village was gone trading.... And my brother and I did not have many friends...." Jay replied.
Adam nodded slowly, he already knew how to fight.

"If any women were captured they are being sold to be objects of affection for married men. Children will become house servants," Carter said truthfully, "the men were killed."

Nolee smiled, "You are a warrior, yes?"

Carter frowned, "I am sorry you had to hear from me..."

Nolee smiled, "There are very many warriors who have fallen in the arena. Most of them to a female warrior. She's an Amazonian...very strong..." a knowing smirk placed itself on her lips.
