~Whom is your (character) afraid to let down? What is the sacred bond of trust between them? What would cause your (character) to break it? Break it. (writing prompt from a book I have. 'Character' was originally 'protagonist'.)

Jacen is afraid to let down his twin brother Artemis (and Artemis is afraid to let him down). Being both brothers and work colleagues –Jacen being boss and Artemis being his bodyguard/most trusted assassin- there is a natural bond of trust.
The two are fairly forgiving of each other, so there isn’t much that would break the trust they have for each other. The problem lies with their treatment of friends, family and other employees (which are basically all the same thing) and the way they deal with work/personal issues.

“ARTEMIS!” Jacen called out angrily as he came downstairs, holding a folder with papers in it in one hand. “Artemis Westmore you get your selfish ass out here right now and explain this!”

He stopped a few stairs above the bottom of the staircase, waiting for Artemis to show himself. Artemis a moment, the slightly younger twin emerged from the living room, cautiously approaching his brother.

“What is it?” Artemis asked, sounding perfectly calm despite being filled with worry. Jacen was normally the calm one, so seeing him shouting, or even angry, was rare.

“What the hell is this?” Jacen asked as he held up the folder in his hand.

“It’s a folder…” Artemis said slowly. He knew what it was, but seeing how much it annoyed his brother, he wasn’t too keen on having the conversation he knew was coming.

“Yes, with papers, written and signed by you, to fire the one employee who I can rely on without fail to find the information I need!”

Artemis shrugged his shoulders. “I can’t deal with him right now with all his sulking.”

Excuse me? That ‘sulking’ is your fault.” Jacen growled at him. “You’re the one who replaced him without saying Artemis. You’re the one who happily displays affection for his replacement- in front of him!”

“You like Alex…” Artemis muttered, not looking at his brother. He knew Jacen was right; he just didn’t want to admit it.

“Yeah, he’s nice and he’s a good assassin, but I would never approve of how you’ve been dealing with this. The last thing poor Mikey needs is to be thrown out of here. You know he doesn’t get along with his family, he’d have nowhere else to go!” Jacen hissed.

A silence fell over the two, the feeling of tension thick. As they stood there, Jacen became aware of someone standing in the living room doorway. It was, of course, Alex.
After a moment, the creak of a door could be heard. Jacen knew the only door downstairs that did so was the office that was down the hallway behind the staircase; the office Mikey worked in. With a frown, Jacen wondered how long the informant had been listening.

“You will sort this out Artemis.” Jacen finally said, holding out the folder to Artemis, only to pull it back –just out of his brother’s reach- lowering his voice so the others couldn’t hear. “Otherwise you will be the one who has to find somewhere else to live.”

He shoved the folder into Artemis’ hands before turning and heading upstairs back to his own office as Artemis stood there in shock.
